TourBox is a new piece of portable hardware designed to make working with Lightroom and Photoshop and other software easier and more intuitive. Looking more like a video game controller than a midi interface, it works alongside your mouse or tablet with the intention of making your workflow smoother and less fiddly.
Tourbox And Capture One
As well as Lightroom and Photoshop, the TourBox is designed to work effectively with a raft of other creative programmes including Capture One, Illustrator, Premiere, Da Vinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects and more. Unlike many interfaces currently on the market, the TourBox has been created specifically with visual creatives in mind and is designed to sit comfortably under one hand. This allows you to make seamless adjustments when working with a mouse or tablet, keeping essential controls at your fingertips, and making editing significantly more efficient — all with a device that is portable and incredibly easy to use.
Tourbox With Capture One
The TourBox is currently set up to work with Lightroom, Photoshop and PaintTool SAI, with plans to offer additional presets for Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and Capture One in the very near future. With the level of customization available, the device can easily be tweaked to work with any software. You can also adapt any knob, dial, button, or even a combination of them to the shortcuts you choose to suit any software.
Retouching often involves small changes to sliders such as hardness, flow, and opacity, and TourBox is designed to keep those controls within reach without having to look away from the screen or give any thought over which dial to grab. As detailed on the company’s Kickstarter page, even a complete beginner should be comfortable with how to use it in a matter of minutes.
The TourBox works on Windows or on Mac, is available for left-handed and right-handed users, and each of its buttons, knobs, and dials are fully customizable. In addition to reassigning functions, you can also fine tune the speed, acceleration, and accuracy to suit the way that you work.
This “dual wield” approach brings one additional benefit: size. This is a very portable device (386 g, 13.6 oz) that takes up very little space on the desk and offers the added bonus of USB 3.0 pass-through.
Tourbox Controller Capture One
TourBox is approaching the end of its project on Kickstarter and assuming it goes to plan, units will be shipped in late December 2018.
